Gryphons are ferocious, brave and intelligent. Because of those three attributes, there are no authenticated eyewitness accounts of what really goes on within a Gryphon’s nest.  Much of what we know is inferred from Sinbad’s experience with the Roc.

The generally accepted beliefs are that Gryphons build their nests on high, dormant volcanic islands and that they line their nests with gold accumulated from robbing dragon lairs, digging up pirate treasure, or (occasionally) as spoils for assisting a heroic king to vanquish an invading enemy’s army.

The multiple moons in this drawing help to show that with the passage of time the nobility and untamed spirit of this creature has gained admirers from many different cultures in many centuries.
